Custom Decorating by Catalina

Description

Unique combinations of colors and textures have come together to engage a 7 year old girl to come in and delight in brightness and charm fitting her personality. Her room is rich in not only color but texture and activity. From a luxurious bed to a cozy niche, a dressing area to a play zone, this design will continue to thrive along with her occupant!

Design Inspiration

All the designing choices were influenced by a particular combination of fabrics which were not exactly the usual obvious choices or best combinations. However because of this complexity my effort to accomplish the task of bringing these together as though the fabrics were meant to do so, made this a "labor of love".

Decorating Style

My style is always custom.  As a decorator I must create, decorate and design for the needs and preference of my client. My style will always vary from one project to the next, just as one client is different from another, so is their space and situation.

Project Details

The initial inspiration fabrics are from Bella Notte. The furniture is Jessica McClintock Romance Collection, the chairs are from Homegoods the paint is Benjamin Moore - purple lace (on walls) and forget me not (on ceiling).

Favorite Items

Favorite items without question are the fabrics, they still haunt my dreams!

Advice

Sometimes we shy away from incorporating what we like because it doesn't seem to "go together", I encourage you to challenge yourself to dismiss this training and make it work with compliments and layering of elements. In the end go with your gut,  a space needs to make you happy regardless of the "rule of thumb".

Nice, Moroccan-style bed and niche! The fabrics you used are so rich in color. I also think that the body form and the floral chair are such charming additions to the room.
