It's the most wonderful...and busiest time of the year! Have a little down time with a fun and easy holiday playdate, a cookie decorating party!
I've always wanted to throw a Santa's Mustache Bash for the little ones...I hosted a cocktail party version and I knew it would be so much fun, and what screams more holiday than decorating cookies? When I saw Cristina of Le Partie Sugar's gender reveal party
http://www.lepartiesugar.com/2012/09/11/gender-reveal-handsome-fella-or-lil-lady/, I contacted her to see if she would tweak a few elements for me, white mustaches and red lips for Santa and Mrs. Claus, she gladly obliged!
Fabulousness on a dime...I love to repurpose, reuse, beg, borrow and borrow some more. I love to challenge myself to reuse what I have, but make every party unique.
Armed with Le Partie Sugar's fab printables, which Cristina is graciously offering for FREE
http://www.lepartiesugar.com/2012/12/10/free-printables-santa-mrs-claus-cookie-party/ I set out to create a dessert bar and a cookie decorating area. With an abundance of lip items from Valentine's day and a custom mustache cookie cutter, I made mustache cookies for the boys and lip cookies for the girls, made candy lips and mustache favor bags, and used stamps to jazz up paper napkins. I love using butcher paper, it's so easy to dress up and clean up is a snap. I used it for the main table and the dessert bar backdrop...just wrote on them with a white ink pen. Even the milk glasses got in on the fun with one of my fave party tricks...paint the inside of the glass with candy melts. Hanging over the table are new, clean glass ornaments I filled with sprinkles. Don't complicate the dessert bar at a kids' party...homemade cupcakes and hot chocolate a stick complimented store bought treats. Cute labels makes everything look amazing whether it's from your oven or grocery store.
My favorite items are a toss up between the Hot Chocolate On A Stick, a fabulous and easy recipe from Make And Takes,
http://www.makeandtakes.com/hot-chocolate-on-a-stick or my sprinkle ornaments...those were a stroke of genius!
Printables are your best friend...there are so many options out there and you can style your party fabulously on the cheap!
