Lavender + Gray Baby Shower!

Description

Intimate baby shower lunch at the beautiful Delamar Hotel in Southport, CT using Lavender & Gray nursery color palette.

Design Inspiration

The colors of our nursery complete with baby elephant scheme  coupled with offering a relaxing and sweet atmosphere to guests, especially after many of our guests just dealt with turmoils of Hurricane Sandy.   In addition, having recently relocated to CT, I wanted a space that reflected the beauty of the area.

Clean, beautiful lines with bursts of color and unexpected surprises.

Project Details

The venue space was beautiful alone so we added very subtle decor to show off the gorgeous light fixtures and fabrics already found in the room. Menu cards & seating cards played off the baby elephant theme that is utilized in both the nursery and on the shower invitation.  The Delmar created a signature Sinacore Surprise cocktail made up of orange, strawberry & lemon juices that was incredible. Favorite Items

My favorite items are the candy buffet and beautiful florals.  We embedded various girl baby names in the candy names and asked guests to guess at the baby's name (which could be embedded in the candy names).  We used candy like "Jordan" Almonds & "Violet" Mints to have guests thinking those may be one of the chosen names.  They weren't but it was quite funny.    I also invited guests to leave advice for the new mama on cards.   Guests had fun submitting their  advice as well as name guesses. I also wanted the florals to work in both a purple scheme and utilize mercury glass containers based on an inspiration board we created on interest here. http://pinterest.com/msinacoreevents/deep-purple-mercury-glass-inspiration/. Dirt Floral Studios utilized rich purple hues to compliment the lavender and even talked us into having them source very seasonal deep purple carnations which when clustered together looking very puffy and airy.  We trusted their advice & the florals received rave reviews.

Advice

Try to to edit your decor.  With baby showers, its so easy to go over the top and while you should celebrate your impending little one to your hearts desire, have fun editing as well.  If working with a luncheon or meal at your shower, consider opting for one longer, wider rectangle table vs smaller tables.  The communal feel of having everyone gather at one table is very special.
