14 Karat Fun

Posted in Celebrities, Gifts, Push Presents by Little Apple Design SF

All this depressing wall street stuff has really got a girl down. Nothing like a little sparkle to lift the mood. My sister’s friend introduced us to this great line of simple and chic jewelry by designer Adina Reyter. There are a ton of pieces to fall in love with in her line and after perusing the collection I realized that many of her necklaces would make great push presents too. One diamond for the first child, two diamonds for the second and so on and so on! I think this theory works very well, wink, wink.

Adina’s pieces can go from day to night and because they are beautifully understated, they complement any personal style. Each of her pieces can be worn separately or can be layered to create a unique and fun look. In addition to the lovely necklaces, I love the large twist hoop earrings. Finding the perfect pair of gold hoop earrings is like choosing a baby name. Lots of choices but only one really works! I mean if Jennifer, Cameron, Debra and Demi are all wearing her stuff then I think I need to join the club too…

Project Postpartum

As you obsess over the details of the baby nursery, read all the books, and wait 8 weeks for your Dutailier nursery rocker to arrive, are you really thinking about you? I mean beyond the vitamin E cream for your belly. (Well, maybe you are if you ordered the Dutailier).

As a new mom, they say that the best thing to do is to sleep when your baby sleeps. Now really, who has the time?!? There’s a whole other person’s laundry and bottle washing to be done. But it IS important and if you are lucky enough to sneak in that cat nap, then do so with the nuddle!

To sum it up: it’s plush, cozy, has slates for your arms to hold your baby, the remote or a glass of yummy old vine zin. But best of all, there’s a pocket to keep your feet tucked in. In fact, the nuddle can also be worn as a robe. Now that’s certainly better than walking around topless while getting the hang of breastfeeding for the first few weeks. This functional, fabulous product retails for $110 on http://www.nuddleblanket.com/

So once you’ve come to the realization that you won’t be sleeping 10 hours a night, you’ll quickly notice that your shower time has been dwindled down to less than two minutes. When having to choose between washing your hair or shaving your legs - shave your legs. Use Shampowder by Buttercream Cosmetics to degrease your tress. Shampowder not only freshens your hair but increases manageability. Beauty experts recommend not washing your hair daily anyway and for $15.99, it sounds magical.

So make yourself comfortable and happy during those trying first weeks or in my case, 58 weeks later. Afterall, it IS all worth it.

P.S. Note to Hubby: This is what I want for Mother’s Day along with that Heather Moore necklace :) XO!

Sweetheart, Ever Heard of a Push-Present?

Posted in Gifts, Push Presents by admin

A friend of mine in NYC requested and received a classic Hermes Birkin Bag for her push-present. Lucky girl! (Your husband need clarification on this fast growing trend? Print and present him with this handy NY Times article). A push-present not only represents your new beautiful bundle of joy but also rewards you for the hours of labor, months of morning sickness, swelling, varicose veins, stretch marks, engorged followed by sagging breast…need I continue? Check out the unique, handmade jewelry collection by mom of four Heather Moore.

Each piece is one-of-a kind and Heather uses a unique stamping technique on each of the charms. Half the fun is designing a piece to represent your family and style. We love her collection and especially love her commitment to using 100% recycled metals, which means they come from the Earth’s existing metal supply. And on a day like today, Earth Day, this is extra important. If you picked up the latest Cookie and Town & Country, you may already have seen Heather’s charms featured.

And for all you moms who don’t have a bun in the oven, don’t worry. Mother’s Day is fast approaching and one of Heather’s designs would be a perfect gift from your wonderful and loving family (wink, wink…don’t men like to be told what to do anyway?). If someone still needs convincing, just remind him “Happy Wife, Happy Life!”
