Campaign furniture has been all over the place lately—on Pinterest, blogs and even showing up in some of our favorite furniture lines. Campaign furniture was originally created to be easily taken apart or folded up for easy travel. From this functionality sprang great design—pieces that have clean lines, sturdy hardware and practicality. These elements make campaign furniture very versatile. One of our favorite uses for campaign dressers is in the nursery, as a changing table.

This colorful campaign chest is painted different colors to match the little girl’s room—genius!

Lonny Magazine featured this vintage green campaign piece. This would work so great in a nursery—all it needs is a changing pad on top!

Of course, there are nursery-specific furniture lines that have hopped on the campaign style bandwagon as well. In 2010, Nurseryworks debuted its Uptown collection, featuring a campaign style changing table.

This campaign chest is actually leather with rivets, making it feel rustic and masculine. This piece would be perfect in a little boy’s nursery, and it would last for years and years.

Well, I’d like to pretend that I’m much closer than I really am, but the reality is that I still have a little over three months until baby girl arrives, or 14 weeks, or 98 days…or 2,352 hours—but heck, who’s counting, right?

My oldest, Cade, will be seven this summer, and by proof of this picture, there was nothing stylish or appealing about the hospital gowns available to me. (Apparently there wasn’t any makeup or a hairbrush around either, geesh!) If I’d had the colorful choices that are available today, I guarantee you, I wouldn’t have looked such a mess. I mean, whose color is hospital-greenish-white anyway?

Now, thanks to these wonderful companies (surely created by style-conscious women), we can add a little color to that special day, and hopefully, look a little cuter in our pictures too! So say goodbye to the oversized, revealing one-size-fits-all traditional hospital gowns—these stylish alternatives are hospital approved!

So whether you are delivering your first baby, facing an extended hospital stay or just want to add a little color to your special day, you can do it in comfort and style!

Bringing home baby also means bringing home loads of “stuff.” While the nursery is the logical room to house baby’s new gear, let’s face it folks, it will inevitably spill into your living room. Cut through the newborn fog a couple of weeks later, and suddenly you find yourself under the attack of unattractive bouncers in animal prints with flashing lights. Team Project Nursery is throwing up the red flag here and suggests starting with a single, classic baby seat—the BabyBjorn Babysitter Balance.

Forget sacrificing your design sense just because you’re a parent now. There’s something to be said about a company that’s been in business for 50 years and remains a leader in style. In honor of BabyBjorn’s big 5-0 celebration, they have revealed three limited-edition fabric choices with some serious ’70s retro flair for a twist on their timeless bouncer.

There’s no question that in the design world, mid-century modern is in high demand and retro remains cool. So why not go with a bouncer that truly complements your lifestyle and the rooms in your home?

sources via pinterest.com/projectnursery

But then again, it’s not just about the good looks. The Babysitter Balance offers proper back and head support for baby, and because it’s not motorized, it helps your child to develop motor skills and balance. In fact, it’s the child that sets the pace. With three different positions and compact folding for storage, it shows that BabyBjorn is a true testament to both style and functionality.

This is a sponsored post. Thanks for your support
in our effort to bring you exciting content.

The other month, I had the pleasure of viewing the latest and greatest coming from Skip Hop for spring. Well, spring has sprung (despite the dreary downpour I am experiencing here today), and my favorite new accessory is this innovative memory foam stroller liner.

Not only is it a great way to provide added comfort for your child due to its water-resistant, memory foam cushion that conforms to their body, it can also help keep your stroller clean from the daily collection of crumbs. And in my opinion, every basic black stroller deserves a color makeover this season!

They say that the cobbler’s child never has shoes, so what happens when a nursery designer’s little girl is born? Well, it’s the opposite of the age-old proverb—this cobbler’s child gets the Louboutins of nurseries. We wanted to share some of the images and elements of Alessia’s little lady’s tiny nest.

Blending white, gray and yellow—with a cheeky pop of navy—we worked to create a space that was both calm and serene but also cheerful and bright. We hope that sweet and special dreams, as well as happy and precious memories, always fill this room.

1. Living in New York City, space is at a premium. The Stokke brand caters to the constraints of the city without compromising on design or functionality. The Stokke Sleepi was the first item added to our mood board.

2. Compact yet functional, the Stokke Care Changing Table holds everything you need in an easy to reach location.

3. When looking for yellow and gray wall art, the Positive Art Print by Honeyboo caught our eye, but the words captured our hearts.

4. The walls were brightened with Dove and Sunshine paint by Serena and Lily—and yes, we love the names of the shades as much as the colors themselves.

5. Throw pillows complete a nest; this labyrinth pillow by Dwell Studio brings an energy to the room, and the cloud-shaped pillow, from Blabla Kids, was bought in France with this little room in mind.

6. We love the Joya Rocker, and the luxurious feeling of the microsuede fabric eases the hours spent rocking in it.

7. Land of Nod’s “Not a Peep” crib bedding is both cute and calming, and we can’t help but hope that the name will encourage sleep.

8. We like the idea of continuing the stripes of the bedding at a larger scale in the Olin Gray Rug from Crate and Barrel.

9. Although the little one won’t be using the Tripp Trap Chair for a while, we love the rich, dark blue color. It’ll be used as a shelf until the little tush is ready to take its seat.

To honor Mother’s Day and all you mamas out there, Project Nursery, Stokke and My Tiny Nest teamed up to offer you all the chance to win three amazing Stokke pieces of your very own along with a My Tiny Nest design consultation!

I’m loving silhouette artwork right now. It’s classic, timeless and very personal. Traditional black and white is pretty, but why not make them a little more contemporary by showcasing the silhouette in a bold color like in the mom and dad silhouettes used in a design by Lilly Bunn Interiors below?

I originally saw bold silhouettes used in the Carter Kustera Portraits from Jonathan Adler. These cost a pretty penny at $750 each, but they are hand painted in gouache on large 15″x19″ paper, and this does include a custom frame and color.

The first low alternative is a custom printed silhouette from Jennifer DeLonge for $99.

I really like the color, font options and size of this print, but it was still lacking some of the personalization that was so charming in the Carter Kustera print.

While working on a current project, I came across this similar design by Love and Victory, which is a lovely blend of the two. These silhouettes are a little more unique because they are cut-outs not prints; a framed 9″x11″ is $78.

They can even be hand personalized with the child’s name and age like the Carter prints.

My spring obsession is here, a new fabric collection by Schumacher designed by LULU DK. I have already selected my favorites for some sweet and adorable bedding sets for Bellini. I’d love to know which are your favorites. Do tell!

I love the color palette in the LULU DK collection—brights mixed with pastels in perfect harmony.

I “love” this embroidered “I Love You” fabric. Hint, hint, we’ll be using this as a sheet. Adorable!

There are so many different vibes offered in this collection. The playfulness of the fabric designs is perfect for a nursery or an older child’s abode. I even like some of them for adult interiors.

Recently, I have been working on a new collection of wall art, so I have been looking for inspiration for new ways to use the blank wall space in my home. Walls are the perfect way to express ourselves in our homes. There are many options to dress nursery walls that can express any style. Take a unique approach and consider other options to traditional canvas or framed art.

RETRO: Collections are a great way to invite the “curious” into our home. Whether on a wall or on a shelf, any time you can show off your latest finds the better. People love exploring your treasures and often have a story of their own that they can relate to your unique choices. I love the games this person placed on this wall in the room below.

Image from Deco Peques

BOHEMIAN: Add a playful zoo reference above the bed. Faux animal trophies have been a recent trend. Anthropologie carries some fun papier-mâché versions, or you can get crafty and make your own.

Image from Annette Tatum Collections

VINTAGE: Homemade silhouettes, cut out from favorite fabrics, make the perfect backdrop sky to then layer a clothesline of art. Walls that are re-translated and transcend the obvious are always great.

Image from Apartment Therapy

MODERN: Adhesive wall decals are a great alternative to framed art. A simple translation in a graphic element can result in dramatic results. Mix and match color against black and white.

Image from Apartment Therapy

ECLECTIC: Silly and eclectic wall design leads to a fantastic work in progress. It never has a planned look about it but always looks organized—the eclectic wall is always dynamic. A fun pinata and handmade handkerchief banner show a pure expression of those who live there—unfiltered and unedited is best.
