Giveaway: It’s More Than Just A T-Shirt

Posted in Clothes, Gear, Giveaways by Little Apple Design SF

On our way back from Lake Tahoe we made a pit stop in the cute college town of Davis to grab a bite and tire the little tikes out in an attempt to achieve some road peace for the remainder of the drive back to San Francisco. I was delighted to discover the cutest little t-shirt shop ever! It’s called nina and tom, a husband and wife team who are all about creating handmade shirts and baby onesies with original, bold and lively designs and phrases. Nina says, “We believe in having your child wear a t-shirt that is as unique and fun as they are. We believe that nina and tom baby onesies, kids and adult t-shirts are more than just t-shirts, they are truly something special.”

Nina and Tom share a passion for the environment and all their shirts are made in the USA from 100% cotton. These guys are so cool they were even featured in the book Gorgeously Green, written by Sophie Uliano with a forward by Julia Roberts. I purchased the “I’m Like Totally Organic” tee for my daughter and it was a smash hit at preschool this week. Other favorites of mine are the “ABCs” organic tee and the “I’m this many” birthday shirt. Lots to love so check them out and maybe you will want to pick up an adult tee like the “This Mama is For Obama” (Or not, we at PN steer clear of politics and just stick to design). Because they have such positive, feel-good messages and a care for the environment, it makes spending just 20 bucks on a shirt feel like a good deed.

Comment to win a $50 gift certificate towards any nina and tom loot! One lucky Project Nursery reader will win and it could be YOU! Contest rules are below. Good Luck:

Baby Lives Lux

Posted in Clothes, Gear, Gifts, Toys, Travel by Little Apple Design SF

In a bit of a silly mood today which is why I’m dedicating today’s post to good old fashion retail therapy. I’m usually on team practical, but every now and again I throw function out the window and go for lux instead. This strategy can be applied to baby as well…

First up is the sheepskin papoose by Bill Amberg. Perfect for ski trips to Aspen or family jaunts to St. Petersburg (Russia, not Florida). Makes my old Baby Bjorn look uncivilized! Retails for $500 at milkshop.com.

Not your average eco-looking trendy trike. The Road Hog tricycle by Airflow Collectibles has chrome wheels, tassels and a leather seat. For those less rock and roll, check out the Blue Sky and Pink Princess version. All bikes are around $299.

And finally these Zid Zid Moroccan gold ballet flats are so gold and gorgeous. Can I have a pair? They also come in metallic pink, green and silver. And at only $38, L’Enfant can feel like a princess for mere rubles.

SoMi Style Shines

Posted in Clothes, Gear, Gifts by Little Apple Design SF

Sleepsacks are absolutely one of the greatest things to own during those first months of motherhood. Not only do they prevent baby from escaping from their clothes, exposing their tiny bodies to the chilly air, but they also make those middle of the night diaper changes simple. Three cheers for that! Question: Can sleepsacks be stylish and functional at the same time? Or are the standard issue yellow flannel sleepsacks all that’s out there? Answer: Meet SoMi baby.

The SoMi baby story begins with two former college roommates who share a passion for chic European style, having both lived abroad at different times in their lives, and for their growing families. Founders Lea and Renee launched the SoMi baby collection with beauty and function in mind. SoMi offers an exceptional line of safe and natural sleepsacks, booties, bibs and blankets for baby.

The sleepsacks are beautifully made with 100% cotton, fire-resistant batting and offer special features such as ties at the bottom to adjust for growth spurts. A two-way zipper makes the changing easy and with details such as star snap closures, Somi has surely brought infant sleepwear to a whole new level. Available in nine unique fabrics and designs, we think all style bases are covered! Email girls@somibaby.com to place an order for you or a lucky friend. Any mom would love to receive such a beautiful while practical gift for their new baby.

Sally’s Clippies: Adorable Hair Clips and Bows

Posted in Clothes by Little Apple Design LA

I come from a long line of hair obsessed women. Always trying new styles, shades and state of curl in the name of perfect hair. And much to my husband’s frustration, the obsession causes me to purchase way too many hair products (I’m like a hair bartender mixing up my own product cocktails!). So, when my daughter’s hair finally grew long enough to use cute bows and clips I was ecstatic. And of course, I’m always in a constant search to find beautiful hair clips for her. Introducing Sally’s Clippies…..

Mom Sarah Ames turned her love of accessorizing her daughter Sally into a thriving little hair clip business. Sally’s Clippies are unique hair clips and headbands for babies and girls of all ages. The clippies can also easily clip to any size of Sally’s headband to change up the style. All of these hair accessories are handmade and are sure to complete those summer outfits.

Prices are really reasonable with most clips ranging from about $3 to $6 dollars and there is a discount when ordering more then one. Email your order to sarahames@msn.com and mention Project Nursery to receive 15% off your total order. Shipping is only $5 no matter how much you buy and you can pay through PayPal. So easy and what fun to support another cool mom.

Beginning today through Sunday 7/6, Sally’s Clippies is offering a Felt Giveaway! Post a comment on their site and enter to win your choice of two felt flower clippies and headband to match!

Thanks Sarah for sharing your adorable clippies with us and keep us posted on any new styles.

If You Don’t Have Anything Nice To Say…

Posted in Clothes, Gifts by Little Apple Design LA
How many times have you heard the age old saying, “If you don’t have anything nice to say then don’t say anything at all”? It was a very popular lesson taught in my house growing up with three siblings and I’m sure I’ll be using it on my little ones soon enough. New T-shirt company Speak Nicely takes this concept and puts a spin on it. Instead of not saying anything at all, they have taken on the challenge of empowering children through the power of speech. Not just to say nothing at all, but instead to say something nice. Ahh, how refreshing.
Founded by a mother of four young kids, she was feed up with the negative and inappropriate messages on children’s clothing. (”Spoiled Rotten” or “Who’s Your Daddy?” sound familiar?) She realized that all kids like to wear shirts with sayings on them but where are the shirts that say positive things? An idea was born! Speak Nicely has girls, boys and baby shirts that share beautiful messages with the world. Some of our favorites include: “Be Nice”, “I Speak Nicely”, “Teach Me Gently” and “I Am The Future”.

All shirts are American Apparel 100% cotton T’s with a great fit and wash perfectly. Each T arrives with a little card giving more detail and background on the message. Project Nursery readers can us code “CampKids” at checkout to receive $10 off any order of $50 or more! Be sure to check out the Friendship Bands too. They come in packs of five which make them so fun to share with friends. I’m really energized by these messages and as the folks at Speak Nicely say, We can change the world with the power of speech. Now go and speak nicely!

Giveaway: “Even Cool Babies Spit Up”

Posted in Clothes, Gifts, Giveaways by admin

For all of us who have toddlers and school-aged children, how quickly we forget the constant drool and spit up that plagued us during baby’s first year. Granted, we’ve moved on to bigger and messier things but the annoyance of the drool was a constant. Your child’s wardrobe options then became limited: i.e. Make them wear a lame bib all day long which covered their cool Lucky Brand tee or change them 4 times daily.

Beth Powell, creator of Bibzees took a stand against lame bibs (You know, the ones that say “Cute Chick”, “Daddy’s Girl” and “Choo-Choo”). She had the smarts to create a line of onesies with contemporary, hip, corresponding bibs and yes, they will match your 7-month old son’s camo cargo pants!

Project Nursery would like to congratulate Bibzees for launching their new site and new “Baby Ink” Tattoo designs for the season. All bibs and toddler tees use water-based inks which are good for the environment and safe for baby.

In celebration, one lucky winner will win a Bibzees set with Chinese characters that read “Deep & Profound” and “Baby”. To increase your chances of winning, hop on over to our friend’s new blog My Asian Heritage (even if your not Asian, but I am sure you know someone who is) and comment on one of their posts. We will then register you for TWO chances to win this killer Bibzees set! Contest rules:

1. Comment on this post below by clicking “Comments”.

2. Share with us your spit up stories…Well, let’s not if it’s too graphic and say we did. Instead, tell us what you like about Bibzees.

3. Anonymous entries will not be counted.

4. A winner will be selected by http://www.random.org/ and announced on this site. Make sure we can get a hold of you or check back on Project Nursery frequently!

5. Contest ends Friday, July 4th, 11:59pm PST.

Good Luck!

New Sweetheart Collection From Cherry Tee

Posted in Clothes, Gear, Gifts by admin
Five years ago I was on the hunt for the perfect tee. Super soft cotton, awesome fit, great colors and a tee that would hold up to even laundromat washings. (I can’t believe there was a day when I didn’t have my very own washer/dryer..can you even imagine that now?) So, it felt like I hit the tee shirt jackpot when I discovered Cherry Tee. Just so happens the company came about because of the founders’ own quest for the perfect tee. Lucky for me, she had already tested hundreds of different versions and determined that the perfect tee was one that fit close to the body but wasn’t too tight, long enough to cover your belly button but stop at the waist. Buttery, creamy cotton that gets better over time, keep their shape throughout washings and in colors that are chic and sophisticated. Bingo!!

Now those folks at Cherry Tee have launched a new kids line. Cherry Tee’s Sweetheart Collection includes their bestselling ribbed tank and cap sleeve crew t-shirts in kids’ sizes 2T, 4T and 6. The collection brings that same high quality, chic and simple tees to little boys and girls. For the next 2 weeks we are proud to offer Project Nursery readers a 20% discount on all orders! Enter code “PNCT20″ at checkout. The packaging is totally adorable (even on standard orders) complete with big lollipops which make these tees such perfect gifts! Don’t miss out….
