Baby To Toddler Room Rx, It’s Tasty!

Posted in Celebrities, Furniture, Toddler Rooms by Little Apple Design SF

When Tasty Baby, makers of the popular, celeb endorsed, organic baby food, asked us to write a feature on making the transition from baby to toddler room, we were thrilled. Not only do we stand by their super nutritional and TASTY products (found in CA markets such as Wholefoods & available online), but we have we gotten a ton of requests and tips from our own readers, plus have some really great ideas since both Melisa and I are personally making the switch over!

Don’t miss our featured article found on Tasty Baby’s Blog. We’ve got the top 7 ways to go from twinkle-twinkle to preschool cool. Best of all, making the jump from baby nursery to toddler room can be easy and inexpensive..,

1. Invest in a good looking and functional bed. I went for a full size bed so that the nightly reading sessions would be comfy for Mom and Dad too. The bed will take center stage in the room and now there are great options for tufted headboards, bunk beds and modern designs. Have fun with it!

2. Give that changing table a makeover. Get rid of the changing portion on top and add a fresh coat of paint and hardware to the dresser to transform it from sweet baby to fun toddler. Try a pop of color to give the room some punch and to help incorporate all the colors going on with the zillions of toys you have now acquired.

3.  Bring in a pint sized table and chairs. Doesn’t have to be expensive (Ikea has a great one!) and will fill up the room and create an instant play space.

14 Karat Fun

Posted in Celebrities, Gifts, Push Presents by Little Apple Design SF

All this depressing wall street stuff has really got a girl down. Nothing like a little sparkle to lift the mood. My sister’s friend introduced us to this great line of simple and chic jewelry by designer Adina Reyter. There are a ton of pieces to fall in love with in her line and after perusing the collection I realized that many of her necklaces would make great push presents too. One diamond for the first child, two diamonds for the second and so on and so on! I think this theory works very well, wink, wink.

Adina’s pieces can go from day to night and because they are beautifully understated, they complement any personal style. Each of her pieces can be worn separately or can be layered to create a unique and fun look. In addition to the lovely necklaces, I love the large twist hoop earrings. Finding the perfect pair of gold hoop earrings is like choosing a baby name. Lots of choices but only one really works! I mean if Jennifer, Cameron, Debra and Demi are all wearing her stuff then I think I need to join the club too…

Calling All Cowboys

Posted in Baby Nurseries, Bedding, Celebrities, Play Rooms, Toddler Rooms, Wall Art by Little Apple Design LA

In my ongoing effort to create a little boys toddler room for my son, I have stumbled across a number of themes that have tickled my fancy. This surprises me because generally speaking, I find ultra-themed rooms to be tacky and over-the-top (sorry to be so harsh). Yet at the forefront of my list is the Wild, Wild West motif…

I love bedding…crib, twin, and my own! But I love Serena & Lily bedding the most so I always circle back to their simple styles. I’ll take them all but “Nate” looks best with today’s potential theme for my son’s room. Check out one of Serena & Lily’s online retailers, 2 Sweet Sisters (Their name is just as sweet as their site).

We have all placed (or thought about placing) wooden letters above the crib to spell out our child’s name but what about rope art? Never heard of rope art? Me neither…until now! Here’s a twist with some fancy twine by Buckaroo Style : your go-to all things cowboy baby and child! Available in two sizes and ideal for room decor or personalized gifts.

And what wild, wild, west room wouldn’t be complete without it’s own tee pee? The two moms of Tee Pee For Me recieve great press and Hollywood’s endorsement for a reason. Handcrafted, heirloom quality products that can last a child through their tween years for the indoors or out…need I say more?

What style of room will my son end up with? I still haven’t a clue but thanks for joining my journey as I explore options. Will my son really even notice? Probably not, but that’s okay. Have any ideas of your own or need assistance? Post your suggestions or questions on our exciting new “Share” forum here!

Serena & Lily Launch Nursery Design Book

Posted in Baby Nurseries, Bedding, Celebrities, Toddler Rooms by admin
Design duo Serena Dugan and Lily Kanter have done it again! Not only have they expanded their gold-standard crib and toddler bedding company to include paint, furniture, rugs, lighting and super cute baby slings, but now they have come out with a nursery design book too. The book titled “Nursery Style” is an inspiring guide to help you create a one-of-a-kind nursery which reflects your own personal style. Of course Project Nursery is all about that!
The book takes you through traditional, modern, vintage or eclectic nurseries. Each chapter shows you how to implement your ideas with colors, fabrics, furniture and accessories. Their tips for storage and safety really make this book a soup-to-nuts nursery planning must-have. And with a foreword by Kate Spade and stamp of approval from Jennifer Garner, I’d say the duo have a sure hit on their hands.

Halle Berry’s Baby Nurseries

Posted in Baby Nurseries, Celebrities, Cribs by admin

Ok, we are not a celebrity baby stalking kinda blog but, did you all catch the Halle Berry nursery segment on Access Hollywood? If you didn’t, take 2 minutes now out of your crazy day and check out Nahla Ariela Aubry’s new digs - both Hollywood and Malibu. Afterall, we are all about children’s design and the latest finds, right?!

Now that we’ve done our homework, let’s debrief on the cribs - Here’s the lovely Cape Cod inspired panel crib by Newport Cottages. It’s two-toned, comes in custom colors and takes 8-10 weeks for delivery. It retails for $1367 according to the super celebrity baby outfitter NoMi Boutique.

Next we have the totally mod Litto Crib Manhattan also found at NoMi for a mere $850. The sleek zebra wood and contempory steel legs apparently work better in Malibu. Both are equally as fabulous in my book!
