Little Apple Design SF Introduction

Posted in About Us by admin

About Me. I created this blog as a a resource for moms who like their space, including the nursery, to be unique, personal and of course hip and chic. It’s also a place to inspire and motivate because anyone who has kids knows that each day is filled with moments of laughter and frustration. Like my blog partner, “Little Apple Design LA”, I spent my “working” (we all know the real work started when labor began) years in corporate America where I developed marketing strategies for a satellite radio company based in New York City. While that paid the bills and was adequately fulfilling, my real passion has always been fashion and design. During my first pregnancy I was plagued by insomnia and with the whole world asleep I turned to the web for comfort and company as I planned my child’s nursery. I was raring to design and decorate but didn’t know the sex of my baby! (imagine that in today’s instant gratification obsessed world) My plan was to design two nurseries and to do all the ordering once I had met my baby. On May 31st, 2005 Gabrielle Lauren (Gigi to anyone who asked) was born and her special nursery began to take shape. I had tiny space to fill for her (large by NYC standards) but that didn’t matter. I loved every minute! Let projectnursery help you create a gorgeous and personal nursery for you and your baby to enjoy.

Welcome to my first attempt at a blog. Here goes…I spent my 20’s working in corporate America. I thought I was doing what I loved. Looking back, I did love it but in the back of my mind, I always wondered what would be next. Ten plus years later, my world changed for the better when my little one arrived. I am sure all you new moms out there would say the very same. I stopped working because my husband’s job moved us across the country. Determined to continue my career as a hospitality executive on the west coast, “Mommyhood” set in. With it came a whole new world, a whole new set of responsibilities, and various interests emerged - ones that I never knew I had. Suddenly home bound in a new city for three naps a day (my son’s of course) I started to look at my surroundings. I was now a “Director of the Home”. I initially thought, “How incredibly lame?!” My magazine subscriptions transitioned from Instyle, Travel & Leisure and Vogue to Domino, Elle Decor and Cookie! Ok, and the occassional US Weekly/In Touch. Afterall, I have to keep current with celeb moms and their babies. The internet became an awesome resource. I started online shopping for everything and I mean EVERYTHING that I found in the magazines! Decorating my nursery was just the beginning. Truthfully, it was a long journey. Between 8 shades of blue, 5 shades of white, I finally found the perfect color of paint, from the worldwide web! 90% of my nursery furniture and accessories was not only purchased online but came with free shipping. I stalked all the major home retailers looking for sales, collecting points and discount codes. I have a taste for the modern, contemporary and transitional look. I am not a designer by any means, I am just a mom who appreciates good looking design. Mommies (and Daddies too) have no choice but to design nurseries for their babies and it can be a daunting task. It was such a struggle to find inspiring decor or design ideas where the cribs did not cost $1800 or Winnie the Pooh was not the focal point of the baby’s nursery (no offense Pooh, you will always be loved). Well here I am today with my dearest friend “Little Apple Design SF”, hoping we can help make it just a little easier for some of you.
