Steels Cowboy Dream Nursery

Our precious cow-baby, Steel, arrived on a cold December Day, Christmas!
Steels room was crafted with pure love, joy and of course cowboy dreams! His room was a total remodel,  the last room in our home,  which I have been saving for a nursery when the time was right.
With rustic hand troweled drywall, (my drywall skills curtesy of my Dad!) espresso stained, knotty alder base and crown molding, Steels room was made! My inspiration came from a single baby blanket, found on the Pendleton website. The Chief Joseph crib blanket in tan. It was a gorgeous blanket with tans, reds and green! With red being my go to color I knew this was prefect for our little cowboy!  Next I fell in love with the Jameson nursery furniture collection from Restoration Hardware. An Amazon search by my husband for: fluffy, soft rugs: yielded us this amazingly soft and plush rug in ivory! Probably my favorite feature in the room is the sliding barn door. The door was found in our cellar and it was my husbands grandparents original front door! It has his name “Waldo Haythorn” on the name plate and the door knocker was an old spur! It couldn’t get much more prefect! Another element that I dreamt up was using old branding irons for curtain rods. This was made a reality by my father-in-law Craig. With a figure 4   Iron on each window I knew Steel would grow up to love the heritage he was born into, he is a 6th generation Nebraska cowboy and rancher! My mother-in-law, Jody, gave me a treasure that was in my husbands room as a child, it was a rawhide painted teepee night light! I was 7 months pregnant when I started this project and I think it came together flawlessly! Either that or the people I called upon for help where just afraid of hormonal pregnant woman! But I couldn’t have done it without the help!
