Barette Widell, a California native, moved to Philadelphia at the age of 19 to dance with the Pennsylvania Ballet. She danced with the company for 9 seasons, 5 of which she was a soloist, culminating in her retirement in December 2012.

Throughout her career as a ballerina, Barette assisted in the planning of many events and weddings. It was during this period that she grew a huge amount of love and respect for wedding planning, which ultimately lead her to planning her very own destination wedding in San Jose Del Cabo in November 2011.

While on summer lay off from Pennsylvania Ballet, Barette accepted an internship with the prestigious public relations company, Cashman & Associates. During her tenure at Cashman, Barette assisted in the planning and coordinating of many events. While still at Pennsylvania Ballet, Barette also worked part time as an Event Coordinator for Capezio Dancewear. Upon retiring, she transitioned into a full time position at Capezio as Event Coordinator.

Barette soon realized that her passion was in wedding planning and having already culminated one career that she was very passionate about; Barette decided to follow her dreams and started Widell Designs.

Hudson’s Modern Striped Nursery

Mom and nursery designer, Christina Boschetti of Widell Designs, styled a rockstar modern nursery for her baby boy Hudson Sawyer. She incorporated a mix of modern items with a hint of vintage, creating the perfect nursery for the cutest little rockstar. The castle side table that you will see featured is a vintage toy shop display that was handed down to her son by her brother-in-law. They purchased it from the toy shop 25+ years ago and it is a statement piece displaying adorable toy animals.

Wish Upon A Star Rustic Baby Shower

So it all started with our client wanting a wish upon a star theme. We knew right away we would make this a more hip and cool up to date theme by adding in the rustic elements . This party was all about diy. We hand made all the centerpieces, spray painted the letters, hand made the banners, candy labels, thank you bags and the list doesn’t end there. one of our favorite elements of the event was utlizing the custom rustic wood bar that we designed with the contractor,  Adam Mayer. The built-in bar added just the right amount of added rustic we needed for a side backdrop.  Being that my business partner and I are both new moms we knew exactly what its like to have a baby shower. We wanted to make this a stylish yet relaxing event for our client. There were tons of food and candies for everyone to munch on and we loved the cake pops and cake that we designed with Vani… The paper brown “About to Pop’ popcorn bags were hidden around the corner for a nice little surprise treat.  The gold made everything bling and sparkle while working magically off the teal color.
