Barbie S.

Our little one will make me the proud mama of two beautiful boys. I work full-time but am fortunate to work from home several days during the week. I'm a hands-on mother and believe a strong faith in God is the foundation to a loving home. I enjoy staying active playing soccer in an adult league. I love creating new projects around my home.

Adventure Awaits Baby Boy Nursery

There’s something magical about putting together a nursery for your sweet baby. It’s imaging what type of boy he’ll grow to become, providing him with all the things he needs, and finding each special piece that you know he’ll love. We are incredibly blessed to be given this miracle and cannot wait to meet little Michael.
I wanted to create a mountain mural as an accent wall because I love the symbolism behind it. I want my son to overcome obstacles, always keep his sights on something bigger, and remember to enjoy the journey. This mural is extra special because my sister Suzette Rogers painted it. She’s incredibly talented and I love that a piece of her will always be with him. With a darker mural, I knew that I wanted to coordinate a lighter baby bedding with it. I’ve always been a huge fan of Carousel Designs and they have the cutest their “Silver Gray and Mint Fawn Crib Bedding”. The baby deer fell right in line with my adventure theme and the silver and mint really brightened up the room.
The wall decor was fun to put together. I purchased many of the pieces from Hobby Lobby sticking with an adventure theme. I love arrows and I feel that they are very boyish. The arrows in his room symbolize protection and keeping his focus on the straight path. I especially love the quote piece such as “Stay Strong and Be Brave”.  I knew I wanted to add the popular move mountains quote, but thought it would be fun to create my own by using chalkboard sign and chalkboard markers.
Another favorite piece in the room is the custom name sign that a local artist created for me “The Moonlighter- Lyndsey Abel” and the deer door hanger was made by my other sister Nicole Lucas. Boy, do I have some talented sisters! I love having my sisters being a part of this special place.
