We can’t believe it’s already time to get the kids ready to head back to school! Kick the school year off right with a fun back-to-school picnic. Your kids will have a blast reuniting with friends, comparing teacher assignments and gearing up for backpacks and homework assignments.
Create a fun invitation by inserting a No. 2 pencil into a mini green apple, attaching the picnic details and adding some ribbon. We kept the party decorations simple by covering a picnic table with kraft paper for doodling with crayons and making red tissue ball apples with leaves cut out of green construction paper.
Pack fun, kid-friendly picnic lunches. We lined berry baskets with colorful checkered napkins and included peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, fishy crackers and Granny Smith apples. We also served apple juice that the kids sipped with cute straws—they loved it!
Now for the best part—dessert! These apple-shaped cupcakes and pencil-shaped cookies are almost too cute to eat. Yum!
Kids grow up so fast! Make sure you document the beginning of the new school year with a photo. To create our own photo booth, we printed these adorable, free grade-level chalkboard signs and glued them onto wooden rulers to use as props.
Send each guest home with a notebook-lined favor bag filled with a mini composition notebook, pencil, giant Smarties, “book worm” sour gummy candies and alphabet cookies.
We wish all your kiddos a happy new school year!

I love this! Where did you get the checkered napkins from? Are the berry baskets pint size?
