Fourth of July: Star-Spangled Celebration

We’re so happy to welcome Happy Wish Company as the newest members of our team of expert contributors.

It’s almost America’s birthday, and you know what that means—friends, family, fireworks and fun! Since the Fourth of July is one of our favorite holidays, we thought we’d share some all-American party inspiration to get you in the spirit.

Patriotic Bike Parade

Gather the neighborhood kids and have a bike/wagon/stroller decorating party! We fancied up our beach cruiser with red, white and blue pinwheels, sparkly star garlands, mini pinwheels and a giant red balloon. You can even weave streamers through bike wheel spokes, trail tin cans behind your wagon and more. Just get creative!

Once your wheels are fully decked out, parade up and down your streets in full July 4th flair. Our neighborhood actually organizes a parade that the kids love, but if yours doesn’t, we don’t see anything wrong with starting a new parade tradition. It’s super fun for even the tiniest patriots!

Red, White and Blue Picnic

Let’s be honest, besides the fireworks, the Fourth of July is all about the food! Pack up a “Patriotic Picnic” to take to your fireworks display! We’ve put together some kid-friendly, good ole American eats in red, white and blue:

Giant hot dog
Macaroni salad
Star-shaped watermelon (slice watermelon and cut out stars with cookie cutter)
Blueberries
Potato chips

For a sweet treat, let the kids have fun decorating—and eating!—star-spangled sugar cookies with red, white and blue frosting and sprinkles.
