Design Reveal: Walk in the Park Nursery

When I told Melisa and Pam I was expecting my second baby, it wasn’t “I’m pregnant!” it was, “We get to design a nursery!” Let’s be real, I work for Project Nursery, and I’ve spent countless hours in the gallery crushing on all the amazing rooms our readers upload. Now it was my turn to create the room of my dreams.

Don’t get me wrong, I was ecstatic to be having a new baby but also excited to design a room featuring my favorite pieces I’d been drooling over for years! The room all started with a crib, the Devon Crib from Newport Cottages in Bahama Blue.

Melisa, Pam and I brainstormed a million different ideas about what direction to take the room. Our first thought was a beach theme, but I wanted something a little different. I wanted a room that when you walked in your first thought was, “WOW!” I have no doubt that we achieved that goal! Once Melisa suggested the idea of incorporating Pop and Lolli’s “Day in the Park” wallpaper, I knew we had our design!

When designing the room, we played off the bold and bright colors from the wallpaper and crib. Our goal was to bring the colors of the park inside to the nursery. For a dramatic touch, we add a splash of orange to the color scheme. Our friends at Carousel Designs helped me select and custom design the Kiwi Mini Parquet crib sheets.

Of course, no nursery would be complete without a gallery wall. I scoped the web and pulled my favorite inspirational sayings, “Don’t forget to be awesome” and “Peace.”

My favorite part of the room is the reading nook. It’s the perfect place to unwind from the day and get in a little snuggle time with baby Blake before rocking him to sleep.

I have to say, this room makes me (and Blake) happy! It’s an extension of the overall modern design of my home, but most of all it’s a retreat for Blake. I check my iPhone at the door and take time to enjoy my baby and growing family. I’m also thrilled to report that Blake also loves his room and is one happy baby!

Thank you to Pam and Melisa for helping me turn my vision into a reality! I’d also like to extend a thank you to our friends at Newport Cottages as the Devon Collection in Bahama Blue was the inspiration behind the “Walk in the Park” nursery.
