Color Inspiration: Finding the Perfect Palette

We are often asked, “How did you decide on the color schemes for the nurseries you have designed?” There are so many things that can inspire a color palette. We always listen to the types of colors that our clients want, but we also search for the perfect object to give us a little added color inspiration.

Our best advice is to hop on the internet, do a little research and find an object that has a color scheme you really love—this is one of the best ways to build your palette. There are several items that could spark inspiration for your color scheme. For example, rugs, pillows, artwork or even wallpaper are great places to start. We love to use our inspiration item in the room to pull it all together.

Here are a few rugs and the color schemes they inspired for us.

Pillows are also a great place to look for color inspiration. Here are a few fun pillow finds and our ideas for the perfect palettes.

When pulling colors for a boy’s room, you may feel a little more limited in your color choices, but sometimes keeping it classic is the way to go. We love the clean lines of this geometric pillow.

Scalloping or a scale pattern is a fun pattern that is popping up this year. This pillow lends itself to endless color schemes.

Artwork can often be the easiest way to tie your room together. With endless choices, you can find the pieces that suit your little one best. Here are a few examples of some great artwork we found around the web.
