Style for Shaping the Post-Baby Body

Virtually every woman who gives birth has that moment—that moment where she looks down and wonders where the heck the body she had went and when it’s coming back. For the lucky ones, everything snaps backs like elastic. For the rest of us, we gotta work at it a little.

Dragging yourself back to the gym is, well, a drag when form-fitting workout clothes feel more like a billboard advertising your bulge, and baggy styles make you feel like a slob. Thankfully, someone designing activewear has woken up, and there are some great cute outfits popping up everywhere that put fit, flair and style into workout clothes—for those of us who aren’t swimsuit models. The nice bit of extra material and cinched in waists in these stylish tops are perfect for hiding that bit of leftover baby belly while you’re working up a sweat—total encouragement to put on a cute outfit and hit the gym.

What if looking sassy and fabulous isn’t enough motivation?

For some, like myself, it takes (ahem, three) years to decide to work back towards the pre-baby body. We all come to it in our own time. If fitting back into your old clothes or wearing a new set of workout duds doesn’t do it for you, feel free to call a friend to get your rear in gear. There are many mother’s groups dedicated to getting out and exercising and making it a social event for moms and kids. Here are a few to get you started, but it’s worth a Google search to find something that suits your style!

Feeling happy and healthy makes it easier to be an awesome mom, so if you’ve got a mom’s exercise club, please share—we’d love to hear about it!

These are nice tops. But, too bad, the models are already slim and in great shape, so these shirts look lovely. I wonder how they will look on mommies with all the bulges and saddle bags.

I guess there's only one way to find out if these tanks will look good on you, post-baby fats and all. ;)
