Solid Gold

To trend or not to trend—that is certainly a question worth asking when it comes to designing a child’s space. Should you go for the current craze (think the mustache craze a la early 2012), or play it safe with something that Grandma would love? Right now, we’re loving a craze that’s truly the best of both worlds—gold as the new neutral.

This is an all-encompassing neutral—masculine, feminine and truly gender neutral. Implementing metallic gold in a nursery or child’s room design is an exquisite touch that reads both “on-trend” and “timeless.” As nursery designers, we can see this trend working well for small accent pieces like this adorable table lamp.

Because this particular trend is truly lasting, it’s not a bad idea to go with an investment piece like a chandelier that will last for years to come.

Toys are always a great place for trying out trends—these gorgeous blocks are certainly heirlooms in the making!

For the true commitment-phobe, try a fantastic set of easily changeable knobs to spruce up any furniture piece, like a dresser or changing table.

From lamps to knobs and art to bedding, the sky is the limit. If you’re liking this trend, no matter what you choose, we know it will be solid gold!

Gold really has that sense of timelessness to it. And it connotes richness and luxury.

Maybe I'm just weird, but I still think of gold as leaning towards the feminine side. Silver, on the other hand, is more into the masculine. I know it's just me.
