Well, according to Wikipedia, plaid is also used as a synonym for tartan or, in the USA, any checked cloth pattern, so yeah, argyle is plaid.

I actually prefer plaid, checkered or argyle patterns more than houndstooth or chevron.

I think I'd go with Henry's nursery with this one. It's a classic room with a a very creative and colorful twist!
