Wallpaper in the Nursery

One of my new favorite passions is wallpaper, not only for the usual rooms in the house, but for the nursery as well. I love the idea of adding another element of texture to the room. Even if you only do one wall as an accent, the effect is magical in a room.

Finding the right paper that will “grow” with your child is important. I like to stick to the classics when it comes to pattern—geometrics or simplistic line drawings. A limited color palette is a great way to keep the room from becoming too stylized.

I also love the feeling of a pattern that “blends” in. These wallpapered rooms show how pattern, subtle or bold, can also be classically bohemian.

I couldn't agree more with finding wallpaper that will "grow" with your child - unless you can realistically pull off making a switch after just a couple of years or you plan to have another child and move them into the first child's room (not ideal). My son is now almost 3 and he has fantastic wallpaper in his room but it's appropriate for a nursery, not a "big boy's" room and it's proving difficult to update the room around it. (Esp as bedding patterns and colors have changed since then.) It's also impossible to predict what the child will be into - trucks, music, etc. So it seems like the best move is a neutral wallpaper like the above that will let you update the room around it. I really wish I had realized that back then!

I'm not a big wall paper gal especially since there are so many great paint palettes. I like wall stickers for kids or vinyl wall decals because they are less expensive, fun, and trendy.

I love to use subtle wallpaper patterns in the nursery on one accent wall. It doesn't overwhelm the room design and allows adding accessories without overdoing it. What a great idea!

I am in love with that lilac geometric wallpaper! I love lilac and the hexagon patterns truly add a dramatic texture to any room. I also love wallpapers by Arthouse.
