My Favorite Blankie

There are a lot of options when it comes to the perfect baby blanket for your child.  As both a mother and owner of a specialty baby boutique I have become quite the “expert” on the topic.  Here are my top four favorites…and here’s why…

1.  Aden & Anais This brand deserves all the hype it receives.  The simple patterns on super soft muslin make for the perfect swaddle.  The lightweight muslin also permits air to circulate around the baby’s body, while still providing comfort and warmth without the worry that the baby may overheat in moderate weather. Cotton muslin is also a workhorse fabric. The wrap is woven from a natural fiber that stands up to repeated washings and only becoming softer — and better — with age.

2.  Little Giraffe This brand touts itself as luxurious, and I would most definitely agree.  One snuggle with one of these blankets and you will be hooked and so will your little one.  My favorite in the collection is the Luxe blanket.

3.  Swaddle Designs These swaddle blankets come in the MOST adorable patterns, made of cotton flannel.  The perfect square for easy swaddling they even come with simple swaddle instructions.

4.  Margery Ellen If you don’t have the time or the skill to knit your baby a home made blanket, then look no further than Margery Ellen.  Her hand knit blankets in perfect color combos are soft and sweet.  These fly off the shelves and make a wonderful baby gift.

We were given a bunch of blankets for my baby shower - and my mum bought me a Choofie baby blanket - WOW!! It was so soft - and classy. It's the most upscale baby item I received. I want a big one for me!!!

I am big fan of Aden and Anais because I love how soft and breathable the products are especially if you have a baby that is like a little heater. I do have to say though I love all the great new soft synthetics coming out. They are just so yummy and great to use during the day for snuggling. I ordered one from a website called Veeshee.com. The offer several made in the USA options and you can get a custom monogram. When I got the blanket I realized they put the monogram on first before sewing the blanket. The monogram only shows on one side. It seems to be totally custom made, but somehow ships the same day! Has anyone heard of this?

My favorite blankets are Bearington Bear. The silky soft blanket is so similar to Little Giraffes' chenille baby blanket that it is a natural for gift giving and it is a fraction of the price. This 29 by 36 inch blanket is so soft and at www.namelynewborns.com we embroider it with up to two free names. Available in pink, blue or cream for an elegant baby gift.Roz Stuzin info@namelynewborns.com

The last time I bought baby blankets was more than a year ago. Amber Hagen is a fave! It might be a little more expensive but I love their organic bamboo material! They also have the cotton cashmere blanket too!
