We had a few personal questions for Michelle this week and wanted to share some of her answers with you…

What made you decide to open up an online baby store?

When our family moved from Georgia to North Carolina, I left my position in Business Development at a local hospital and became a full-time stay-at-home mom. Once we moved into our new home, I had a clean slate to begin decorating our children’s bedrooms. I began to spend hours upon hours scouring the internet, catalogs, and stores looking for children’s decor products and for ideas to decorate the rooms. I loved the process of discovering bedding, wall decor and furniture for kids’ rooms and coordinating these products to develop beautiful, warm and personalized rooms for each of our children. I think I should have bailed on getting the accounting degree and instead worked to become an interior designer. So I did the next best thing and decided to use my business sense to start a business doing something that I really love.

What is the toughest part of running your business from home?

Time Management!!! I’m a wife, a mother of two preschoolers, a small business owner and someone who underestimated it all. Just when I sit down to load products or try to blog, someone is asking me for milk, to help with a lego project or to find “Bunny Hop”. Then, it’s time to start dinner!

What are some of your very favorite products and why?

Can I say everything? I carry products and product lines that I truly love, products that I can envision in my own home. But, my single favorite item is A Vintage Room’s Beaded Aqua Crystal Chandelier. I want this chandelier for my daughter’s bedroom! The beautiful aqua color of this chandelier would look gorgeous against the light pink walls and decor. I’m also constantly on the lookout for new, beautiful and unusual children’s decor – items that will differentiate me from other boutiques.
