Creative Finds by Annette: Ikea Seating

This month we finally moved into our new  offices in Santa Monica, CA. After years of retailing and wholesaling from two different locations, we have decided to create a new kind of showroom called The Workroom.

Our new workroom combines the ease of shopping retail with all the tools necessary to be your own designer. Here you can design and decorate for all your home decor needs. Choose from our exclusive line of fabrics or shop from our other favorite textile sources. You can also choose wallpapers, paint colors,  flooring, furniture and more. Everything is custom made to your design specifications and allows you to create and personalize your space.

On another note… moving offices can be as overwhelming as moving your own home. Trying to get everything working technically is always a challenge for someone like me.. but once that was accomplished it was on to what every office needs… a trip to IKEA.  It is always nice to get things you need that are practical and economical. The fun part is to then add your own element to their basics. As I was walking on the guided path of the store I came to the seating section where I found some great chairs that are ideal as lower cost options for the nursery.

The STOCKHOLM chair is a great accent for the nursery or child’s room . You can also buy fabric from the our new Annette Tatum line to re-cover the chairs to match your nursery bedding… it still works out to be less than starting with a higher price chair frame.

The EKTORP is a small cozy slip covered chair to cuddle up in. Perfect for cozying up and reading a book to your little one. Create a second slip cover  in your favorite print as an option for adding print to the room. Or sew a small lumbar pillow as an accent to this solid color chair.

A very fun new modern chair is the SKRUVSTA. I love this chair! I want to use it as a playful element in my office. The sweet bird print on a modern frame makes me want to hang out in my office more.

For clean modern lines the KLAPPSTA chair has the look. Again.. you can get the look you are looking for easily at Ikea. Modern here is easy and affordable. Modern does not have to be so simple that it becomes complicated.

The Annette Tatum collection of nursery fabrics  are a popular choice and are perfect to for any chair. Whether you are re-covering and updating or starting with your first nursery chair.. looking for unique shapes and interesting patterns can be a great way to add a special decor element to any room. Decorating does not always have to be expensive… you can start with the basics then add interesting layers on top to create the room you have been dreaming of.

This was a good post..First trip to your site. Thanks for sharing. I am going to revisit this blog. I was a home decorator for 5 years. My decorating tip of the week is: Don't overcrowd a home. A good spacing is key. Thank you one more time..

Being perpetually on a budget means that the ektorp is the one for me. It's easy to change the decors to reflect the seasons on that one.

Annette: I must say that this is perfect timing as I have been on the look out for minimalist chairs and the KLAPPSTA is PERFECT!
