Hopefully everyone is not on owl overload…I apologize for the fact it has taken me six months to post Blake’s nursery. I previewed it months back with my DIY art project and now here I am to share the final details of his little nest.
The colors I used were chocolate brown, aqua, tangerine and a touch of grass green. The furniture is by babymod from walmart.com. The crib bedding is the chocolate and white collection by Bacati. The grass green Hampen rug, 4-cubbies Expedit shelf and Ektorp chair are from IKEA. The lamps and accessories are from Homegoods and the mirror is form Target.
I wanted to created a focal wall by painting horizontal stripes in the coordinating colors. This element brings visual interest, great color and pattern into the space. The remaining walls were painted with a soft aqua. I played up the walls and played down the bedding and added a little extra detail into the DIY window panels.
The room was designed with little emphasis on the theme and more detail on the color and function. It was key to design a space that can grow with him. For example, the crib has a storage drawer and coverts into a toddler bed. The changing table top comes off to transition into a small chest. There is also a taller dresser that allows for additional storage.
I love hanging out in this happy space and seeing that little Blake sleeps 12 hours a night I’d say he’s pretty smitten too!
