Inspired Living By Sarah Richardson

First there was Candice, now there is Sarah…HGTV Canada has brought some amazing designers into my living room. The other day, I caught Sarah Richardson’s show, Sarah’s House and was dazzled by her clean, contemporary design. A recent LAD client shared with us how much she loved her. And when I hopped on the web to browse her gorgeous website chock-full of amazing inspiration, I loved her too.

Sarah’s talents go well beyond nursery. Check out her decorating tips ranging from from laundry room art to beside table height.  But like these nurseries, the light and airy color palette she often incorporates into her designs are truly inspirational.  The good news is,  it’s all very do-able. Notice her use of  $59 Ikea curtains, the popular Stokke crib and coveted Jonathan Adler Giraffe lamp!

And while most of us tend to head straight to crib bedding when we begin the nursery design process, that doesn’t always have to be the case. When incorporating busy prints and patterns in your fabrics such window treatments, chairs or even an area rug, sometimes simple white crib bedding is all one really requires. Ok, now that maybe taking some fun out of creating baby’s first room but regardless, aren’t you now inspired? Thanks Sarah Richardson.

I love these rooms they are beautiful and sweet.

  2. That polka dot chair is to die for!!! I love it! Those are totally my colors, too!

I loved how she used so many things from Ikea, but changed them just slightly so the room didn’t feel like an Ikea showroom. I was trying to figure out if the blue crib was a Gulliver, just painted blue.

You should also check out her older projects/shows: Design Inc. and Room Service (both have their own websites with pictures of rooms including many nurseries). She is a great Canadian designer.
