Guest Blog: Delightful Dolphin Baby Shower
Corner Stork Baby Gifts is a one stop shop for baby shower favors and much more! Guest Blogger Karen Sullen uncovers a few great finds for a creative baby shower party…
There are plenty of reasons to like dolphins. They’re smart and playful, they live at the beach and they’re always smiling. And, if you’re a beach lover or just really into dolphins, those are the same reasons why they’d make a great theme for your baby shower.
You don’t have to live in Florida to watch the dolphins play. Have your baby shower at the aquarium, zoo or the beach! Invite guests to enjoy what’s under the sea as they “Come celebrate baby and me!” It’s a family friendly shower that’s also a great unisex theme if parents haven’t revealed the baby’s sex. Here’s how to get your guests jumping out of the water!
Location: Inside, you can set up right near the dolphin exhibit. How fun! If not, simply having it in a reserved area on the grounds will still set the theme.
Decorations: Make a mini-aquarium out of a small fish bowl for a beach-themed centerpiece along with a plush dolphin or two. You can even get creative with an ocean or beach-theme diaper cake, like this one!
Food: Let seafood be your inspiration for this aquatic affair. Try dolphin-safe tuna on croissants or shrimp cocktails and fresh salads. For a signature mixed drink, try the Blue Dolphin, created from coconut rum, Blue Curacao and soda for the adults. And, make a non-alcoholic version with tropical blue Kool-Aid for the mom-to-be.
Just For Fun: Go Fish is a great aquarium baby shower game! Either play the card game or create your own. Hang a sheet decorated with various paper fish so it is high enough that someone can hide behind it. Attach fishing line with a clothes pin at the end of a stick to create a fishing pole. As guests “fish”, clip on fish-themed prizes, like fish pot holders, place mats, etc. Even if you’re not an expert fisherman, you still win!

Favors: Help them remember their day with dolphin bottle openers as baby shower favors.
Of course, if you don’t have an aquarium or zoo nearby, you can always create a beach scene indoors.

We got a beautiful Dolphin mural in our little tykes Nursery. I dont know if you can post a link but we got it here http://ourbabynursery.com/product_info.php?cPath=90&products_id=215 The picture on the web site does not give it justice. On the wall it really looks good! Little nemo fish swimming around underneath! Very cute! (Although not fully appreciated yet by a 8 week old!) hehe

I love this idea. I was looking for something similar in a whale theme and had a hard time finding favors and other decorations. I finally found these really adorable coffee favors at http://www.babygiftstation.com that had an option for a whale sticker on the coffee pack and it worked out great! Thanks for this amazing article! :)

You hit a home run with this post because so many women love dolphins and babies, so the combination of Dolphin / Sea theme baby shower is perfect. I need to show my wife this story. She would be interested in this.
