Giveaway: Art That Makes You Smile

Comments 68

Just one look at “George the Silly Sparrow” by Etsy shop, Isabell’s Umbrella and I want to swoop him up and keep him safe in my child’s room for a rainy day.

“George loves to make people smile – it is what he does best. Based off of one of my favorite illustrations, this little guy will brighten any space. George is perfect at spreading happiness” - Ashley . Created by hand with felt, George measures approx. 2.5″ and is enclosed in a wonderful shadow box frame (5.5″ off-white). The frame can stand by itself or hang on a wall (including hardware).

Graphic Designer by day and doodler by night, owner Ashley Giessing has created a line of stationary with the magic to clear the clouds on a rainy day and revitalize the lost art of handwritten correspondence. We wholeheartedly agree with Ashley when she says “There is nothing that means more to me than a kind, heartfelt, handwritten note from someone I love”. Here’s a peek into her sweet stationary designs.

To learn out more about Ashley’s recent work, check out her blog.  To make Silly George the Sparrow a part of your life and room decor…

1. Share with us the last time you took the time and energy to hand write someone a sweet note. Or, let us know if you were on the receiving end of this kind gesture. And okay, if you have been inspired to hand write a note because of George and this post – that counts too!

2. For extra credit, subscribe to Project Nursery via email for our daily postings and your name will be entered twice.

3. A winner will be selected at random using www.random.org

The last time I received a note was for my birthday from my grandmother. She sends a beautifully handwritten note every year and uses the most fantastic personalized stationary!

I send or give out thank you cards often. I think it is important to let some one know you appreciate their kindness.

I wrote my husband a note and taped it to the door so he’d see it when he came home late! He wrote me one back, too, and left it on the baby’s changing table for the morning. :)

Gosh there are so many sweet stories here. I admit I am not a note person and never have been and especially with the convenience of email I never send handwritten notes anymore. My children especially love to receive little “surprise” notes from me saying things like “I had so much fun with you today. Will you read with me again tomorrow”

I am a bit oldfashioned in that, although I love email, I also love to send thank you notes, hello cards, birthday cards etc.
    It’s a lot of fun…
Just sent one earlier this week

I actually hand wrote 4 thank you notes on the same day two weeks ago. 3 were for birthday presents I received and one was a thank you to my aunt for inviting me to go to her cabin.

The last really sweet note I received was when I was on bedrest. My husband’s grandmother would write really encouraging, uplifting letters that inspired me to keep positive about my son…he’s 13 months old now and so healthy

I adore the Herold the Faux Prince print.

I used to write to my best friend all the time and still have those letters but they’ve fallen wayside because of e-mail.

I visit a lot of sites and blogs and normally they fail to deliver, but this one is different. It’s the real deal! Thank you, I am very grateful to you and it has helped me, particularly the post – Art That Makes You Smile | Project Nursery. Mary Jane
